Democracy Has Prevailed.

From The Nation

I wish I'd written it. But alas, it was written by Christopher Hays:

If I were a right-wing blogger, and I found out that Barack Obama was wearing Ferragamo loafers that cost $520, I would spend about 50% of my waking hours making sure everyone knew this. I would mock him for being an out-of-touch elitist and make jokes like, "If you think that's a lot, you should see how much his purse costs " I would send the link to Drudge and wait for Instapundit to pick it up, and then watch gleefully as Fox News ran segments about how Barack Obama's $500 loafers vitiate his entire economic platform.

But of course, I'm not a right-wing blogger. And the $520 shoes belong to John McCain. And frankly, I don't think how much his shoes cost matters one whit for how he'd govern the country.

Add to that his wife's worth tons of cash - and tell me again which one is an elitist?

John K: Obama wears what on his feet? What do I care what he does with his money? I wear New Balance. Remember I am the token conservative.

the tactics that were used against gore and kerry, and against mccain himself in 2000, are not going to work against obama. he's already shown that he fights back against this crap, and with immediacy. i admire that about him.

honesty, eloquence, passion, realism.

refreshing change from lies, secrecy, and fear mongering.

John K: The post opens with the words; "If I were a right wing blogger..." Well, I am a right wing blogger and I don't care. Nor would I notice. This is another case of the left yelling some foul has been committed when nothing of the sort has happened. The left, as they did when referring to Hussein Obama's heritage, pointed a fact and then tries to blame the right for doing it.
The liberals seem more concerned about the clothes Hussein Obama is wearing than me, a right wing blogger. And yet Cathcatz blames the right. Get real Homer.

are you actually a blogger?? where is your blog? FYI, just because you post ON a blog, that does not make you a BLOGGER.

as for my blaming the right, i AM blaming the right for the tone of this campaign. its pathetic really. mccain has nothing refreshing or positive to offer, so he and his people have to lie and obfuscate about senator obama.

it's backfiring on him.

lol lol lol

poor john k. The world is crumbling from under his feet, and he seems to be losing his bearings entirely and not knowing at all what to do. Those New Balance jogging shoes are making a FIGURATIVE claim, my boy.

John K: "World is crumbling..." Guess again Homer. You said you were going to modus something on my butt. Have you started you yet?

You seem fixated on the issue of my comment about your butt.

Please don't get your curious expectations up, as I am a heterosexual male, and may past statement contained at best logical jibberish

I was making a 'nonsense joke', John.

But Let me (inadequately, but briefly)explain modus tollens for you.

Modus tollens is a logical term. It has to do with the logical validity of an argument.

It is often called affirming the consequent in arguments taking this general form:

If x, then p.
x.
Therefore, p.

An example could be...

If you are a Republican these days, then you are deluded.

John. K is a Republican.

Therefore, John K. is deluded.

Our final claim ( John K. is deluded) validly follows logically from our earlier two premises.

I daresay, what with McCain owning 9 homes and wearing $500 loafers, he has far more in common with Paris Hilton.

But we don't need to wait for any members of the 101st Fightin' Keyboarders to take these pathetically cheap shots - McCain recognizes that he has nothing to run on, so all he can do is attack Obama. Hell, he talks about Obama more than anyone these days.

John K: Hey, back off McCain's wealth. He is married to a good looking blonde who owns a beer company. Does it get any better?

Not for the wife and children he dumped to make room for the 25-year-old heiress.
